• How This Works

      Short Version

        1) Every Sunday a new crochet Prompt or Challenge will be posted. In addition, a Mission will be posted on the first day of each month, and possibly within any given month.
        2) Copy the Prompt/Challenge/Mission to your own blog with your response then come back here and leave your link in the comments of the appropriate topic so everyone will know where to find it.
        3) If you don't have a blog, why not start one? Or you can just post your response here.
        4) You don't have to participate in every post. Do the ones you want. Backtrack if you wish. 5) If you have any comments about this site and/or suggestions for a prompt/challenge, click on the "Share Your Ideas" tab and use the form to send it.

For the long-winded version, click the About button.

Mission: 2008

It’s hard to believe a new year is well underway. This post was intended for the first day, but better late than never, as they say.

This is a big mission, or at least big for some of us, so it’ll last the entire year.

A new year is always a great time to get that creativity pumping and create something new, like, let’s say, a big project. One that covers you when you’re cold, yet looks attractive sitting on the back of the couch or draped over your favorite chair. Yes, for this mission, create an afghan/blanket then share the pattern with the rest of us, as well as the finished product by the first of December ’08. Or, if you prefer, submit that pattern to a publication of your choice (but still show us what you did). It can be as elaborate or as simple as you wish. The most important thing is it be an original by you and that you have fun creating it.

There will be check points throughout the year, giving a chance to talk about your progess and what you are doing. There will also be other SS prompts, challenges, and missions to keep you crocheting along the way.

So, what are you waiting for?

On your mark…
Get set…
CROCHET!

  1. Aaack, I did this at the end of last year! The Cables and Shells Throw. 😦

I do, however, have another one in the works and it’s on my spreadsheet to do this year, so we’ll see. I also have another one I’ll likely publish myself so there’s a better chance of seeing it before the end is out. 🙂

    Happy 2008 fellow stitch stirrers!!!

  2. I already have two afghan projects going and they are both from others’ patterns (one for me and one for a niece that’s getting married). Bummer 😦 I doubt I’ll do 3 in one year unless someone has a baby.

  3. Well, I’ll give it a try. I have to admit that I don’t do many afghans because I have a short attention span. I can but try.

  4. OK. This is so a punt in the butt I need. Several blankets to finish and one finished for Christmas that I still need to write the pattern up for and at least 3 other blanket ideas bopping about my brain. Blankets are my absolute favorite ever to make. Thanks dear!
